We’re a team of five students at the University of Sheffield with a passion for all things Bioengineering! Using examples from the neurological system, we aim to tell you more about what bioengineering is and how control and feedback are vital in its learning. To find out more about us, find our profiles below:

Hello, I am Hye Soo Shin (Emily). I am from South Korea. I am studying Biomedical Engineering at the University of Sheffield because I enjoy both the medical and the engineering aspects. Last year, I did a group project on needle-less vaccines. That project made me more interested in Biomedical Engineering. In my free time, I usually play the piano and flute.

Hi, my name is Wai Ching and I come from Singapore. I studied in Germany before coming to the UK. I chose to study Medical Devices and Systems because I enjoy the control systems and computer science aspect of bioengineering. The great thing about bioengineering at Sheffield is that you can tailor your degree to your interests! My hobbies are reading and eating. I also co-manage the Sign Language Society.

Hi, I'm Steven and I come from Indonesia. I chose to study Biomedical Engineering at the University of Sheffield because I love the mix of engineering and medicine it gives me. I have a variety of modules to choose from in third year and I enjoy this flexibility. I also co-manage the Indonesian Society. A fan of alternative and indie rock and a Japanese pop culture aficionado. In my free time, I enjoy watching sports and travelling.

Hi, I'm Saylee and I come from India. I study Biomaterials Science, Tissue Engineering and Biomanufacturing at the University of Sheffield. The reason I chose to study this at Sheffield is because of the strong focus in research found here. Last summer, I worked on a project that involved growing bone cells outside the body. This fuelled my interest in regenerative medicine and made me want to pursue this path in Bioengineering even more! Also, I co-manage the International Students' Committee and work as an ambassador for the University's International Office.

Hi I'm Xinbei Huang, I come from China and I study Biomedical Engineering at the University of Sheffield. I think the Biomedical Engineering degree gives me a wide range of options for the future. I enjoy photographing in my free time, walking cross the city to capture the best moment.
